Vrbka lies in the Kroměříž region. It originated in the 14th century, during the clearing of forests in the Chřiby Hills.

The village council office is in the building of the former school. The same building also houses the Rural Museum of Alois Otýpka. Vrbka has a Sokol hall, which the municipality rents out, and a local cemetery. A stone crucifix dating from 1820 stands beside the road at the eastern edge of the village.
